Monday, 12th June 2023 – 10am to 2pm
Cost: £5 per person
A morning of creativeness with lots of bits of paper and glue – what could be nicer?
My name is Jo Taylor and I am a local artist, but not – I should add - a specialist in collage. I do love it as an art form and I thought it would be great to get a workshop together where we could all share ideas and create something unique. Collage can take many forms and the workshop is all about exploring those forms and finding your own voice in paper.
Things to bring:
-
source materials: copies of old photos, newspapers, magazines, stamps, old tickets, anything that catches your eye
-
some glue: Pritt Stick or something similar is the easiest although this will dry in time
-a pair of good scissors (I use EK Success Cutter Bee Scissors. They are pricey, but very sharp and easy to handle. Any pair of sharp scissors will do though)
-
some paper for mounting your work. This doesn’t have to be expensive paper – you could use old envelopes, cardboard, whatever you have to hand
-
anything else you might wish to work with: coloured pencils, watercolours, etc. (purely optional)
-
if anyone has a favourite collage artist, do bring along some images if you wish to share with everyone
I will also bring along materials that you are all free to use.
Tea and coffee will be provided, but do bring a lunch if you wish. It is not compulsory to stay for the whole workshop, but it would be great if everyone could be there by 10am as I will do a short introduction.
The cost of £5 per person includes refreshments. If anyone wishes to make a further small donation, all funds will go to The Powerhouse including your £5.
We are looking at 8-10 participants so if you are interested, please email me to secure your place. It will be on a first come, first served basis, but I am likely to run further workshops if there is sufficient interest.
